She was radiant as ever under the canopy of the green trees. She was an angel in her white dress, the rich pastels of the twilight ours highlighting their evening wedding. Her crimson eyes were the rubies his emerald gaze would easily loose himself in.
Neither of them had either thought marriage would be a possibility. Not only with each other, but simply with anyone. Who would want to marry a girl with such fear and anger towards men? Who would want to marry a girl who was dead? Who would want to marry a man paid to fight in wars that were not his own? Who would want to marry a man who thought killing was a thrill?
Pip and Seras were the perfect match for one another. They accepted each other’s darkness, yet rooted each other in their humanity. They reminded each other what is was to truly laugh and smile. They comforted, supported, and most importantly, loved one another. They moved together at their own pace, walking through their existence’s side by side.
Seras had always thought it was stupid and overdramatic for a woman to cry at her wedding. She new better now. She was twenty one, and had found the man of her dreams. Pip was everything she had ever wanted, at this point even his flaws were perfect to her. When he’d asked her to marry her, she couldn’t think of a single thing she wanted more. Pip wasn’t a vampire, but he would be with her forever. The bite of a vampire upon a human’s neck was the ultimate symbol of a union. It was as intimate and sacrosanct as a wedding ring. It was the mark for Seras’ kind that Pip was her mate, and he was not to be touched. But Pip was human. He couldn’t give her such a mark. The only way she could give herself to him utterly was to become his wife. Seras would do it gladly. The gold band of her wedding ring was cold and heavy. It settled her into the life she would share with him. It was the tether she yearned for.
Once they had exchanged vows, kissed, been pronounced man and wife, and faced the applause of their friends, they had walked down the isle together. Seras made Pip pause for a moment. He beamed down at her and tears gathered in her eyes. It seemed superfluous, but she had to say it. She needed him to know that she felt it with every fibre of her being and always would.
